Sometimes the most overlooked area of a facility is the public restrooms. In many cases, the restrooms are not neglected but rather not cleaned properly to maintain that fresh and healthy appearance.
But does it matter? According to a national survey by Bradley Corporation, a manufacturer of commercial plumbing fixtures, reveals that 63 percent of Americans say they have had a particularly unpleasant experience in a public restroom due to the condition of the facilities.
In an article written by Jon Dommisse entitled Coming Clean: Restrooms Impact Perception of Facility Condition, he explains how the consequences of dirty public restrooms come into play. Not only do they turn off customers, patrons, and employees; they can also seriously injure businesses' reputations:
73 percent of consumers believe a bad restroom indicates poor management.
69 percent say it lowers their opinion of the company.
65 percent say it shows the business doesn't care about customers.
61 percent say it gives the impression the company is lazy or sloppy.
64 percent say they’ll either think twice about patronizing the business or will never frequent it again.

One of the key areas in a restroom that need the most attention is the tile and grout. Not only is it one of the hardest surfaces to clean and maintain. It can also be the area where most of the smell can get trapped and make for an unpleasant experience. Dirt and grime build up and stain the grout making your floors look old and filthy no matter how much you scrub them. By hiring a specialist to clean and maintain your tile surface, the smell can be removed, restoring the visual appeal of the floor and sealing it for long lasting value.
Occasional mopping or general cleaning can make the problem worse over time. A specialist is trained to recommend solutions that fit unique situations, proper maintenance plans and maintain the flooring beyond a single treatment. (read this blog: Tile and Grout Cleaning Specialist or Generalist?)
By making a decision to focus on the cleanliness and health of the restrooms, you are putting your customers first and making a great impression.
